BAKALETS O. А., KUROK O.I., LEVKIV V.A., BAKALETS O. A. New finds of the chernyakhiv culture’s time on the lands of the village Tereshovets village, Khmelnytsky region

    The article analyzes coins from 8 mint treasures and archeological finds of Chernyakhiv culture of the III – V centuries A.D. Coins were found in the village Tereshovets (Khmelnytsky region) in the 1970s – 2000s. Findings reflect the level of distribution of the Roman coin in the region. 
   Chernyakhiv culture is a unique phenomenon in the history of Slavs, Goths and many other peoples of Eastern Europe. Roman coins of the II – III centuries appear on the territory of Ukraine precisely at the time of Chernyakhiv culture spreading and flourishing.
   V. D. Baran, I.S. Vynokur, P.I. Havlyuk, V.P. Voskolup, L.L. Zaliznyak, O.H. Pogorilets, O.V. Nadvirnyak, K.V. Myzgin, V.S. and V.S. Moroz, O.A. Bakalets, M.Y. Yahodzynsky are well-known researchers of archeological sites of this culture. They explored about 3,500 Chernyakhiv settlements, more than 50 burial grounds and a large array of Roman coins.
    Archaeologists have discovered centers of pottery and coin production. The local population was falsifying Roman denarii. Researchers have discovered 125 Roman coins I – III centuries A.D. in 9 mint treasures, namely: the thesaurus of Emperor Antoninus Pius (18 units), Emperors Mark Aurelius and Commodus (17 units each), Emperor Caracalla (Mark Aurelius Antoninus) (9 units), Empress Faustina the Elder (8 units) Empress Faustina the Younger, Emperors Septimus Severus and Gordian III (6 coins each), Emperor Gallien (4 units) and others.
    Also, archaeologists have identified 26 silver antonians of the Roman emperors: Caracalla (Mark Aurelius Antoninus) (211–217), Severus Alexander (222–235), Maximinus Thrax (235–238), Gordian III (238–244), Philip the Arab (244– 249), Otacilia Severa (244-249), Trajan Decius (249 –251), Trebonianus Gallus (251 –253), Gallienus (253–268), Solanin – Gallienus’ Wife (253–268), Claudius Gothicus (268–270).
   The discovered treasures by volume of quantitative and qualitative material are among the five largest finds of Roman Antoninians, discovered at different times in the territory of Khmelnytsky region.
