KOVALENKO Yu. O. Expedition to the Seelow heights (he Association for the Search and Burial of the Dead in Eastern Europe activities).

Operation at the Seelow Heights was one of the Red Army's bloodiest offensive operations ever since the war. For 10 years in a row, the Association for the Search and Burial of Fallen in Eastern Europe has been organizing and conducting search expeditions near the small village of Klesin (Brandenburg, Germany). Last season, part of the trench network, which has been completed this year, was already explored. Last year's most sensational find was a shelling with the remains of three Soviet soldiers, who were trapped in cover by the direct hit of a large-caliber projectile. According to preliminary data, both documentary and archaeological research, the trenches that we had to work on this year belonged to German units. But according to the excavations, the remains found in the majority belonged to the soldiers of the Red Army. At the end of the search and identification of the remains of the soldiers, each year their reburial takes place at local military cemeteries.
