KUZNIETSOV P. V. Reconstruction of chemical and technological education in Kharkiv technological institute (1917 – 1930)

         This article is about the changes in the structure of the educational process, different plans for reform in high education, creation of departments and faculties, reorganization of Kharkiv Technical Institute after 1917. The forms and methods of the educational process, which did not pass the test by time, are found out. It was studied that the requirements of professors and teachers faculties were organized instead of departments, faculty councils were created at the faculty dean’s offices in which all teachers took part. The first dean of the chemical faculty KhTI was a professor E. I. Orlov.

        According to the first decree on the further development of a higher school in the republic the church was excommunicated from the state, and the school from the church, a decision was made to exclude theology and ecclesiastical law from among the subjects of the university, all the institutes of Ukraine are to be taken care of by the state, wide access to higher education was open for all students wishing to study, especially fir workers and peasants. Also eliminated all degrees, titles and bound by this right to benefits. The heads of the department were elected only by competition, in which a soviet citizen participated. In the student’s studies the ball scoring system was canceled, and injections were introduced. State examinations were canceled and examination commissions were liquidated.

      It has been shown that some innovations did not stand the test of time, did not contribute the improvement of the educational process and the training of specialists. So, for the training of engineers in Ukraine, three years educations were deter mind. But in three years the training program did not fit and these plans were too overwhelmed.

      It was found out that together with the educational departments of 1921 scientific departments were, created, directly controlled by education of the people’s commissariat. But it should be noted that achieving significant changes and a break through in the training of researches in departments of KTI in those years did not succeed.  In the early 30`s the scientific departments were eliminated and science was appended to the educational departments. Departments have been created, which became the organizational centers of educational methodological and scientific work
