The anniversary of editor in chief, doctor of historical sciences, professor Olexandr Ivanovych Kurok

Olexander Kurok was born on June 13, 1955 in the village Mutyn of Krolevets district, Sumy region.

In 1981 he graduated from the T.H. Shevchenko Chernihiv State Pedagogical Institute on specialty "physical culture", and in 1987 – on specialty "History".

By direction of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine in 1981 O. Kurok launched in S.M. Sergeyev-Tsensky Hlukhiv State Pedagogical Institute. He worked as a teacher, department head, dean, vice-rector. Since 2000 he has been a Rector of Hlukhiv Pedagogical Institute. In 2001 the University was transformed into that of 2008 is named after Olexander Dovzhenko, and in 2009 received national status.

In 1994 he defended his thesis and received the degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, in 1996 he received the academic rank of assistant professor of psychology and preschool education, in 2002 he was awarded the title of professor, and in 2011 received a Doctor of historical sciences.

Working as a Rector, O. Kurok made a great contribution to the development of higher education and science of Ukraine, created the best possible conditions for the professional activities of research, teaching staff, training and education for students. He initiated a number of measures to raise the level of the University as an educational center built heritage of our country. Recently opened promising new specialty focused on the real needs of educational institutions put into practice new teaching technologies and the results of his personal research, as evidenced by the large number of scientific publications and textbooks, repeated performances at national and international conferences.

The results of his personal research outlined in 50 scientific and methodical works, including: collection of scientific works "Teaching the basics of modular training in high school" textbooks "Physical education of children in preschools", "Ukrainian history of pedagogy in the people."

Olexander Ivanovych is a leader in the constant search for ways to improve financial and material situation of the University, social protection staff and students. His professional activities are characterized by a typical system approach, analytical thinking, and taking into account local characteristics of the labor market. Olexander Ivanovych hammer work gives all his energy, is an example of selfless service to the educational cause.

For high achievements in labor was awarded the "Badge of Honor" (1981), Diploma of the Verkhovna Rada (2003), Diploma of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine (2004), the medal "Peter Grave" (2005), the Order "For Merit" III degree (2009).

In 1999 O. Kurok was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine".
