ZAREMSKYI M. Y Yakiv Kolubovskyi and the journal ''Problems of Philosophy and Psychology': the beginning of cooperation

   «Problems of Philosophy and Psychology» is one of the first in the Russian Empire professional philosophical journals. It was the result of grandiose plans and intentions to revive the philosophical life in Russia. This magazine was the printed facility of the Moscow Psychological Society (year of publication–1889).
   The official program of the issue states that self-sustained articles on philosophy and psychology (logic, epistemology, ethics and philosophy of law, aesthetics, history of philosophy and metaphysics, philosophy of science, experimental and physiological psychology, psychopathology, etc.) would be publish there.
  Critical articles and assessments of Western European philosophers’ and psychologists’ works, general literary reviews in philosophical sciences and sections, translations of classical philosophical works would be published there too. The philosophical program of the journal was formulated by M. Grot in numerous articles that preceded its publication.
  There were two sections in the issue – general and special. Basic researches on the problems of philosophy, original articles by domestic and foreign authors were published in the first part; special section contained targeted articles, book and magazine reviews, polemical articles, editorial letters etc. The annexes to the issues published material on the Psychological Society activities, as well as documents relating to the members’ of the Society abstracts.
  Yakiv Mykolaiovych Kolubovskyi’s work as editor-in-chief was quite successful: he was able to establish close cooperation with well-known philosophers and psychologists of Russia and foreign thinkers, to improve the financial condition of the periodical. He managed to expand the range of authors, to launch new sections and columns, to submit a huge number of articles to the Brockhaus-Efron’s Encyclopedic Dictionary.
   His author's works with the analysis of the philosophical works of V.D. Kudryavtsev-Platonov, D. Tsertelev, R. Avenarius, F. Golubinsky, V. Karpov, S. Gogotsky, O. Kozlov, E. De Roberti, V. Lesevich and many other thinkers’ were of great interest and lively discussion at that time.
  Ya.M. Kolubovsky’s materials are of great carefulness, meticulousness, completeness and accuracy. Almost the entire essential information that appeared in the fields of philosophy and psychology at that time and had to do with general questions of theory and practice were displayed due to Kolubovsky's diligent work as secretary of the editorial board of «Problems of Philosophy and Psychology».
