Hlukhiv teacher institute in 1905/1906 and 1906/1907 academic years: memorandums, protocols of sessions of the pedagogical council [publisher – Hyrych Ya.M.]

          Publication of documents is an important part of the craft of the historian. Introduction to the scientific use of new sources, the works of historians and various materials allows professionals to not only enrich the documentary database of historical research, but also more fully understand the major issues of the past. Today, among the promising areas of national historical science called local history prosopography history of some narrow professional communities. Subject of scientific work in the teaching environment of Hlukhiv during second half of XIX till the early XX century.

       Pedagogical preconditions for establishment of teachers’ institutes in Russian Empire in the second half of XIX – beginning XX century were connected with official govermental policy in educational sphere. Departamental documents have determined their place and role in the system of pedagogical education in the state as secondary special educational institutions. Published archie documents are united in a self-made collection of typewritten cop lists, which stored in the funds of the historical-pedagogical museum of the Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University. These documents are kept in Russian state historical archive in Saint-Petersburg (archival fund 733 “Department of public education”, archival inventory 175 “Razriad of teachers' institutes, seminaries and lower educational institutions (1905 – 1908)”).

      The official opening of Hlukhiv teachers institute took place on September 21 in 1874. It was the educational establishment with three-year term of studying preparing teachers for the town colleges. Published documents related to the reform of the system of teachers' institutions in Russian Empire at the beginning of the twentieth century. The main focus is on the preparation and participation of representatives of the Hlukhiv Teachers' Institute in the profile meeting at the Ministry of Public Education in early 1907. Discussions on the reform of the educational process at the teacher's institutions took place at the congress of representatives of the teaching institutes (February 26 - March 3, 1907) and the meeting at the Ministry of Education of the Russian Empire (February 26 - March 6, 1907).

      The information potential of published documents allows them to be involved in the study of the education in the northern part of Left-bank Ukraine in the beginning of twentieth century. These materials provide an opportunity to broaden the idea of a professional discussion of ways to reform teachers’ institutes, provide additional information for creating teacher biographies and reproducing some of the plots from the everyday life of this educational institution.
